Our Aims
Selecting the most appropriate form of childcare for your child is not an easy decision; a nursery can provide many advantages over other forms of childcare such as childminders; but you need to make sure that you pick the right nursery for you and your child. When you visit a setting, be inquisitive you have a right, and a duty, to find out all you can. We at The Old Rectory Day Nursery strive to offer the highest quality child care and nursery education, and we believe that it is vital when making the right choice for you and your child.
It is essential that we develop a positive relationship with parents to ensure that children achieve their full potential. We will do everything we can to develop and build these partnerships to create a happy and nurturing environment. We make sure that all relevant information is shared with you daily as well as providing opportunities each term for you to formally discuss your child’s development. We provide you with a ‘learning journey’ which captures some your child’s significant moments, achievements and creations.

Getting children ready for school
Making sure children are prepared for school when they leave nursery is a fundamental part of our job.
We do everything we can to promote children’s independence and ensure they are eager and motivated to learn.
We have an expert staff team, including 3 teachers, that understand the skills children need to help them be successful in their reception year.
One of the fundamental skills children learn is helping to look after themselves.
We teach children about safety and maintaining their own personal hygiene.
Meal times & food arrangements
Our food is cooked each day by a qualified & professional chef using quality, fresh ingredients & produce. Our menu ensures that our food caters to every child’s needs & is complied by our chef on a weekly basis. A sample of our weekly menu is included in the parents pack.
We ensure children receive an excellent balanced diet, providing them with creative & imaginative meals which they thoroughly enjoy, whilst making sure they receive the nutrition they need.
We offer breakfast in the morning between 7:15AM – 8:00AM.
We also offer children regular cooking activities. This is a great way of supporting children’s development and teaches them about different foods and what healthy food choices are.
